Why we exist

Product facts live in a dozen places. The law now wants them in one.

A product's composition is on a supplier declaration. Its origin is on a purchase order. Its care instructions are on a label, its test results in a PDF and its identifier in a spreadsheet. EU product regulation now asks businesses to make those facts reachable from the product itself, accurate and up to date. Most businesses do not have a single place where that is true.

We built ActivateDigital to be that place: an engine that reads the evidence a business already has, works out what it can support and keeps the working beside every answer.

Our story

Born in measurement. Built for evidence.

ActivateDigital comes from measurement. Our founder spent their career in tech, brand and measurement at Google and at major FMCG companies including P&G, where a number only counts if you can show what it rests on.

When Digital Product Passports moved from proposal to law, the same discipline was missing from product data. Plenty of tools could store a value. Very few could say where it came from, whether two sources agreed or what the law required of it. So we set out to build one that could.

ActivateDigital is not a database, a search tool or a document store. It reads the product information you already hold and decides what can legitimately be said about a product.

AI can propose. The engine has to prove.

No model output stands as a product fact on its own. Every proposed value is checked before it enters the record.

Who is responsible for passport data

The business that places a product on the market is responsible for what its passport says.

What the law asks of that business:

ActivateDigital processes and presents what the operator declares. It does not own, certify or change an operator's facts without their approval. That is the role the law describes: a digital product passport service provider is an independent third party, authorised by the economic operator which places the product on the market, that processes the passport data to make it available to economic operators and other relevant actors with a right to access it. Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation) Article 2(32)

  • Every requirement on a battery passport carries a link to the law that sets it and the date that link was checked. Textile passports are next.
  • Every value records who declared it and the evidence behind it.
  • Operators correct their own values; anyone else can report one to us.
