Activate Protect turns a static product code into a live identity control point. Any ordinary phone can open the public passport. Behind the same interaction, ActivateDigital can establish whether the identity was issued, observe where it appears, apply permission rules and flag behaviour that is inconsistent with one physical product. A printed 2D code can still be photographed. Activate Protect does not claim otherwise. It makes reuse visible and controllable, and where stronger physical proof is required the same identity can be bound to secure NFC or another approved physical technology.

One identity, observed in more than one place
The same unit identity is read at the factory, at the warehouse, at the counter and by whoever ends up holding the product. Activate Protect keeps those observations, and a conflict between them is the signal.
Public by default. Controlled where it matters.
The code does not carry secret product data. It carries the identity. ActivateDigital resolves that identity, authenticates the requesting organisation where needed and returns only the information and actions that role is permitted to receive.
Possession of the code never grants restricted access.

A shared product-level code can be copied across many counterfeits without creating unit-level evidence. Activate Protect assigns a different identity to each protected physical unit.
If one identity appears across incompatible locations, devices, channels or shipments, the system records the conflict. A single unusual scan may remain a watch signal. Repeated or high-confidence conflicts can trigger investigation, warning, suspension or blocking.

Any scanner can read it. ActivateDigital determines what the interaction means.
Consumers can use the camera already on their phone. Retailers, importers and other approved organisations can use an authenticated web journey, connect an existing scanner through the API or validate a shipment as a batch.
An anonymous scan is a limited observation. An authenticated operational scan can carry the organisation, checkpoint, time, location, shipment reference, returned decision and action taken. The system keeps those evidence levels separate.
No proprietary scanning hardware is required.

Built around the identity already moving through commerce
Where a legitimate GTIN exists, Activate Protect can use a GS1 Digital Link identity at unit level, with the GTIN as Application Identifier 01 and the serial number as Application Identifier 21 in the standard structure. The resolver connects that durable identity to the current passport and permitted services.
The structure of the identifier does not by itself prove allocation, ownership, authenticity, print quality or acceptance by every device. Each claim stays attached to the evidence that supports it.

From copied-code detection to cryptographic tag authentication
The visible code stays readable by any ordinary phone. Where risk justifies the unit cost, the same identity can also sit in a secure tag inside the label construction, which answers a tap with fresh cryptographic data.
Add physical proof when risk justifies it
Some products need more than software detection. Activate Protect Physical can bind the same unit identity to secure NFC or another approved physical-proof technology supplied through an approved manufacturing partner.
A secure NFC tag can return fresh cryptographic authentication data when tapped. That makes a photograph of the visible code insufficient to reproduce the physical-tag response.
The result proves the responding tag passed its configured cryptographic check. It is not proof that every part of the garment is genuine.
ActivateDigital supplies the configured identity, verification and response system. Physical format, garment placement, durability and production quantities are agreed for each deployment.

Activate Protect returns the strongest conclusion the evidence supports, and names it. Each state is a word, not a colour.
No conflict detected does not mean guaranteed genuine. A decoded symbol does not mean verified print quality. A structurally valid GTIN does not establish authoritative allocation.
